[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Kindly help in identifying this species of spider which i found in the jungle near Barnawapara reserve forest.

The shot has been taken with Nikon D 80 along with Sigma 150mm macro lens.

Spiders (order Araneae) are air-breathing chelicerate arthropods that have eight legs, and chelicerae modified into fangs that inject venom. In their bodies the usual arthropod segments are fused into two tagmata, the cephalothorax and abdomen, joined by a small, cylindrical pedicel. In all except the most primitive group, the Mesothelae, spiders have the most centralized nervous systems of all arthropods, as all their ganglia are fused into one mass in the cephalothorax. Unlike most arthropods, spiders have no extensor muscles in their limbs and instead extend them by hydraulic pressure.

Their abdomens bear appendages that have been modified into spinnerets that extrude silk from up to six types of silk gland within their abdomens. Spider's webs vary widely in size, shape and the amount of sticky thread used. It now appears that the spiral orb web may be one of the earliest forms, and spiders that produce tangled cobwebs are more abundant and diverse than orb-web spiders. Spider-like arachnids with silk-producing spigots appear in the Devonian period about 386 million years ago, but these animals apparently lacked spinnerets.

Hi Pankaj
I like the perspective you've chosen for this image
Congratulation for photograph
Really very good

I always wonder how well can we shoot a spider and we always have to bend the rules like "Don't place the subject in center" etc to shoot a good picture!
I Just love this picture for the exposure and tons of details that u've managed to record.

Hello Pankaj,
This is a type of Orbweb spider.
Beyond that,I can't tell you more.
There are hundreds of species, and great variation in patterns even within species.
Its a beautifully sharp and well exposed shot though.
A very similar spider to one that I posted recently too.
Very nice work.
Steve

hi,
very fine, good standard image but difficult to ID from this position, one has to see the marking on the abdomen, only a specialist can Id this. looks deadly with details. tfs.

This is superb, Pankaj, the sharp and bright spider in the middle, against a creamy soft background. I like looking at the tiny thread of its web. Great shot and sorry, I can't help with ID!

Francine
