[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I dedicate this post to our dear TN friends Anna & Loot on their wedding anniversary.

The butterfly posted here is Graphium doson also known as The Common Jay.

This image has been taken with Nikon D 80 along with Sigma 150 mm macro lens. the image has been taken handheld. Cropping framing and necessary editing done before final presentation.

Information about Graphium doson from wikipedia:

The Common Jay (Graphium doson) is a black, tropical papilionid butterfly with pale blue semi-transparent central wing bands that are formed by large spots. There is a marginal series of smaller spots. The underside of wings is brown with markings similar to upperside but whitish in color.

It is widespread and common throughout Southeast Asia, including lower elevations in Sri Lanka and Southern India, Eastern Ghats, Satpuras, Bengal and Assam, and the Himalayan foothills.

Today we are celebrating Ram Navami in India and i wish all the friends very best of the festive season.

About Ram Navami : Ram Navami (IAST Rāma-navamī) (Devanāgarī: राम नवमी) is a Hindu festival, celebrating of the birth of Lord Rama, son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya, and a divine figure in Hinduism . The day also known as Sri Rama Navami, falls on the Navami, ninth day of the Chaitra month of Hindu lunar year in 'Shukla paksha' or waxing moon, thus named Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami, and marks the end of nine-day Chaitra-Navratri celebrations. Loot and Anna ought to be pleased with this lovely dedication, Pankaj.
With your 150mm, you have done some stupendous work in the recent times.
This is a beautiful shot of the Common Jay on those bright red flowers.
Well done and all the best.
Ram

Good picture with wonderful color balance! pankaj, i'm not sure what made you crop the picture the way you have done, i still feel 2:3 aspect ratio is the best in such cases!
Usage of flash is OK , but there is a tendency to render the picture very flat with no shadows, i suggest you use reflectors/ bounce the flash, so in situations like this you can get shadow details on the flower as well.

Hallo Pankaj
I hope you can see the white flag I am waving on this side of the screen. I do apologize for being almost the last to appreciate our dedication. Thank you for the kind gesture. Time just swooped me of my feet and ran away with me. Altough late with the comment on this lovely image, I saw it as it came into the gallery and appreciated it ever since.

Here I can definitely say: This is a sheer delight. The fine details captured is really stunning and the pose captured is just splendid. I always like an image where the subject is so close to the screen like this one. Maybe it is the fact that my eye-sight is not 100%, but the display so close has some kind of specialty for me. The details of this great looking butterfly are really photographed with great detail, and I really want to thank you for this dedication, which is presented in a most delightful manner. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
