Today I present this beautiful Parakeet. Mush as I would like bird photography is not my genre and my gear also doesn't allow me to have decent shots. But I keep on trying and sometime I succeed in taking average ones. This is one among the very very few. Shot taken hand-held early one morning. Hope everyone like it.

------------------------------
The Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri), also known as the Ringnecked Parakeet, is a gregarious tropical parakeet species that is popular as a pet.

This non-migrating species is one of few parrot species that have successfully adapted to living in 'disturbed habitats', and in that way withstood the onslaught of urbanisation and deforestation. In the wild, this is a noisy species with an unmistakable squawking call.

As is the case with all Psittacula (Afro-Asian Ringnecked Parakeet) species, the Rose-ringed Parakeet is sexually dimorphic. The adult male sports a black neck-ring and pink nape-band while the hen and immature birds of both sexes either show no neck rings, or display shadow-like pale to dark grey neck-rings and light (lighter coloured than surroundings) nape-bands.

In the wild, Rose-ringed Parakeets usually feed on buds, fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries and seeds. Wild flocks also fly several miles to forage in farmlands and orchards causing extensive damage. They have been found to feed extensively on pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan) during winter in India. They also breed during winter unlike most other South Asian birds.

Rose-ringed Parakeets measure on average 40 cm (16 inches) long including the tail feathers. Its average single wing length is about 15–17.5 cm (6-7 inches). The tail accounts for a large portion of their total length. African ssp. are slender in bodies but usually display longer tail feathers (more so in mature male specimens) than Asian ssp. which are typically stockier in bodies. The former usually display darker (brownish-red) upper mandibles while the latter always display bright-red upper-mandibles.

Scientific classification -
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Psittaciformes
Family: Psittacidae
Genus: Psittacula
Species: P. krameri

Hi Sumon
what a great capture for lovely Parakeet. splendid coloration and sharp focus. eyes contact, POV/OOF, blurred BG, framing with leaves in geometric order, all of them wonderful. I also like this species. It occurred in many places of Turkiye after 1990s, similarly in European cities. I also saw it in Spain.
many thanks for sharing, best regards
Ahmet

Hi Sumon.
Superb picture executed at wonderful green key. Different green tones create an amazing and very pleasant for look colour palette. Pictured scene is sweet. Leaves create a nice BG and FG. Image of the fine bird is blameless. DOF, sharpness and details are great. Every feather, colour tone, eye, beak and legs are reproduced perfectly. Well done and kind wishes.

Hi Sumon,
A lovely shot of this Parakeeet perched on a palm leaf.
Everything looks perfect here, and your notes make interesting reading.
It sounds as though these are as much a nuisance to orchards as the Australian Rosellas are here.
TFS & cheers,
Steve

Hi Sumon!

You present us totay an outstanding picture. The effect of your composition is terrific! On one hand, you show so interesting and amazing patterns like the ones in the very foreground, on the other hand the Parakeet and its shape and details are highlighted at best. The unity of the colour tones is superb and creates a great impact. The subtle lighting makes the rest. This picture is a real eye candy.

Kind regards

Markus

You wrote sometimes You succeed in taking average bird photos. Where are them? :) Here I see a very good one, a greatly composed shot with sharpness rivalizing with razor, a beautiful image which is simply good to see. Although You don't consider Yourself good in bird phiotography, let me congratulate to You for this superb capture (would have even been more superb with more light - I know it isn't Your fault).
Tfs, best regards, László

Hi Sumon!
First of all, many thanks for your kind critique on my recent picture of a Garden Lizard.
I am happy to realize that you have started showing some interest in this site again. I think the period of reflection is over and it is time to start sharing your meritoroius work once again. Life must go on.
I had missed this picture in March, so it is a very appropriate platform still open to link up with you.
This is a great capture of the Parakeet and you are being modest in saying that you are not inclined towards or equipped for bird photography.
I am getting more and more interested in birds now and thinking of getting a bigger lens.
Waiting for your first picture after the hiatus.
Warm regards.
Ram
