[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the smallest crab spider I have ever seen. This shot was taken with 200mm and DCR-250 still then about 60% cropped. I found nothing about this species in the net. Hope spider experts here may be able to ID it.

About crab spiders:

Crab spiders make up the Thomisidae family of the Araneae order. They are called crab spiders because they resemble crabs, with two front pairs of legs angled outward and bodies that are flattened and often angular. Also, like crabs, Thomisidae can move sideways or backwards. They are very maneuverable in tight places.

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Arachnida
Order: Araneae
Superfamily: Thomisoidea
Family: Thomisidae

hi prasan,
very good and attractive spider you captured here. very interestng pose, waiting for next meal. sorry, cann't help with ID. you should have concentrated on the spider itself while cropping, the big white bud is negative aspect of this image, no doubt, you did it for the sake of composition. may be you have got better viewpoint. tfs.

Cool HP! I have not seen a purple one like this before..mine was white as was Alexi's...but your frame did it justice in colours. super clear with 60 percent cropping. I tel you....between you Ram, Pankaj, Parthasarathi and Sumon...India is so well covered in high quality images...very good!

Hi Haraprasan,

A wonderful macro of this spider. I think I've only seen pictures of white crab spiders. The clarity of the little thing is wonderful - amazing after such a large crop. I'm going to check back to see if the ID is confirmed.

नमस्ते my friend, Haraprasan,
WONDERFUL photography.
Am soooooooo happy that you've come back to posting your MOST LOVELY images.
I DO ENJOY "SEEING" YOUR WORK though I know NOTHING about the technical aspect of this our grand hobby.
Very warm regards,
Mario.

Hi Haraprasan,
Very good close-up capture of this spider with good POV and composition, sharp details, great DOF and colours.

Pekka

Very good focus on the frontal portion of this tiny Spider, HP.
Even if you had cropped off the OOF flower bud in the foreground, the picture of the subject would lose none of its appeal.
Well done and TFS.

I wish I could identify this for you, my dear friend HP, but I can't.
I love the POV/DOF!
Very well done!
Goldy

Hi Haraprasan,

Hi Haraprasan,
Very nice frontal macro of this Crab spider. POV is very interesting. After 60% crop details are well preserved.

It resembles "Brown Crab Spider - Sidymella bicuspidata" of Australia. I'm not sure. Pl. visit this site regarding Brown Crab Spider: http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_spiders/BrownCrabSpider.htm.

Thanks for sharing another new new species.

Hello Hp, Very nice shot and I agree with Nagraj the bud is actually damaging the view. But it is not affecting the quality of the shot. Well done Ganesh

Hello Haraprasan. Beautiful headshot in diagonal position of this spider. Excellent color coordination and very well framed shot. Well done and TFS. Jusni
