This image is dedicated to all the women of this world and specially to the ladies at Trek Nature for their wonderul contribution to this site.

Today is International Women's Day.

International Woman's Day (IWD) is marked on March 8 every year. It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women.

Started as a political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries (primarily Russia and the countries of former Soviet bloc). In some celebrations, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love to the women around them in a way somewhat similar to Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day mixed together. In others, however, the political and human rights theme as designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner.

I am posting this image after a break of 3 weeks. Its hot summer time here and the opportunities to shoot are getting rare. Today morning i went to the park in front of my house for search of some butterflies and i found three species of the butterflies from blue family. One of them is posted today.

The shot has been taken handheld using Sigma 150 mm macro lens with Nikon D80. Cropping and necessary editing has been done for the final presentation.

Very kind to think about the Woman's day.And you do it with a very fine picture of a cute Lycaenidae. The composition is optimal! And the coloration so subtle. I also like the kind of decrescendo in sharpness of the plant.

Hi Pankaj . A nice dedication to all of the woman on TN. You say in your notes its been very hot we are waiting for our spring so it can warm up a bit. You were able to capture a fine close up of this Butterfly. Which you have taken with fine detail and natural colours. I like the side view against the plain green BG. well done tFS.

A highly artistic image of the butterfly belonging to the Blues genus, Pankaj.
