Hello Friends,

I shot this on my return from our factory in Bawal.

The Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis) is a heron native to parts of Asia, Africa and Europe, which has successfully colonised much of the rest of the world. It is the only member of the monotypic genus Bubulcus, but some authorities regard its two subspecies as full species.

It is a stocky white bird which has buff plumes in the breeding season. The breeding habitat of the Cattle Egret is large wetlands in warm countries. It nests in colonies, often with other wading birds, usually on a platform of sticks in trees or shrubs. It feeds in relatively dry grassy habitats, often accompanying cattle or other large mammals, since it catches insects and other prey disturbed by these animals.

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Ciconiiformes
Family: Ardeidae

I like the partial view of the Cattle Egret, Ganesan.
It is a portrait alright but of a different kind.
The eye of the bird is in sharp focus -- the most essential feature in a bird photograph.
Well done and TFS.

Hi Ganesh,
You get very close to this Cattle Egret. The eye is crisp clear. The yellow beak is beautiful. I like the way you composed this picture. TFS,
