| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Rarely I come across such saint-like, calm birds who let me take their pictures despite of them having seen me. The pretty Common Hawk-Cuckoo was one of those patient models who wait till I took a good shot of it with its beautiful beak.
All this while I was mistaking its call for Koel's call. It is also popularly known as the Brainfever bird, due to its call, which is a loud, screaming three note call, repeated 5 or 6 times, rising in crescendo and ending abruptly and often heard in the early hours of dawn.
I guess I was lucky to get it out of hiding as its reported that the bird is easily detected by its repeated calls but can be difficult to spot.
Like many other cuckoos, it is a brood parasite, laying its eggs in nests of babblers and laughing-thrushes.
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Cuculiformes
Family: Cuculidae
Genus: Cuculus
Species: C. varius

p.s. - If I could do a magician act, I would have removed this bamboo stem from the frame! :( |

Hello Richa ,
I liked the way the bird is looking.
The eye is nicely in focus and a well composed image.
I have done workshop just for different effect.

Nazir
Hi Richa,
Excellent composition and good approach taking into account the very difficult conditions! Unfortunately there is for exposure in several areas, this greatly complicates the outcome. For these cases the light is better to measure by eye, based on the bird and leave the rest of the items subject to a good definition of this.
Regards,
Jesús
Hello Richa
What a wonderful bird...!
You got a very beautiful shot of the bird...!
The bamboo is making the picture less appealing...
Wish that cuckoo had perched on a different location far away from those bamboo stems...
We would have had a wonderful picture to relish then...
