[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I shot this dragonfly at Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh in August this year.
I cannot ID this species. Any help from specialists would be welcome.
This perky fellow has lost one wing. I wouldn't know how. May be some predator tried unsuccessfully to make a meal out of it!
There was some noise in the BG which I removed with NeatImage.
Thanks for looking.

Dear Ram,
I can not help you with species ID, but I bellieve that it belongs to Libellulidae family.
Anyway, this is interesting picture showing an unusual specimen of dragonfly.
Best greetings from Poland,
Radomir

Hello Ram,
This is a great find. A dragonfly minus one wing and still flying. The image is sharp and well exposed. Great composition. TFS this wonderful image.

Yes I would agree with Radomir that this is a member of the Libellulidae family. This has a very similar body shape to the Black-Lined Skimmer which is very familier to me!
Poor guy! I expect something had a go at it!
Could it still fly?
Superb sharpness and detail.
DOF maybe a bit shallow but otherwise a splendid image.
Well done Ram.
Regards,
Joe

Hi Ram,
I guess that dragonflies can sustain a lot of damage and still take care of themselves. Did you watch this one fly? Did it just go round in circles?
Anyway, very sharp macro with good colours, POPV and detail. Thanks.
Alan

Hello Ram,
Nice shot of a damaged dragonfly from a great POV and with fine sharpness. The composition is very pleasing and the OOF natural Bg helps to make the subject stand out.
I'm not sure even about classifying this species of dragonfly: radomir is probably right about it being a Libellulid.
Thanks and best wishes,
Ivan

HI Ram,
Maybe the dragonfly lost the wing within a battle, or trying to escape?
Structures and colors are great, theres only too much light on the bottom of the plant.
TFS,
Oki

Hello Ram !
Poor Dragonfly, he lost his wing ! But it seems that he was able to live even with a missing wing... Anyway, you made a great capture. Details, colors, composition, POV, blurred BG, pose of the insect, everything is excellent. Very well done !
Valerie.

Hi Ram

An interesting posting - with great detail and colours. I find this sort of real posting worthwhile - rather than everything seeming perfect :)

hi ram,
nice photo. wonder how does it fly, it still has one pair, but i guess having two pairs are crucial for maneuvers and hover. tfs.

Hello Ram,
Very fine capture of this beautiful dragonfly that has lost a wing. I expect a little bird tried to get hold of it. I love its colour and details are very sharp. An excellent composition too.
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla
