HACKLEMESH WEAVER SPIDER

Friends, I am grateful to Dmitry for identifying this spider correctly. So I have revised the note accordingly.

On Dmitry's lead, I conducted some research and garnered some basic imformation about a Hacklemesh Weaver Spider mainly from Bugguide.com.

Whereas Bugguide.com almost entirely deals with bugs in America and Canada, it is now obvious that this spider is found in the Sub-Himalayan region too since I shot it at Shimla, India, located at an altitude of about 7000 ft. It is a fairly big spider and I shot it by the side of a concrete drain where it had spread its tentative looking web tentacles on this concrete surface.
Here is the basic information about this spider from Bugguide.com:

Classification

Kingdom Animalia (Animals)
Phylum Arthropoda (Arthropods)
Subphylum Chelicerata
Class Arachnida (Arachnids)
Order Araneae (Spiders)
Suborder Opisthothelae
Infraorder Araneomorphae (True Spiders)
No Taxon (Entelegynae)
Family Amaurobiidae (Hacklemesh Weavers)

A member on Bugguide.com from USA has recorded his experience of being bitten by this spider inside his bathroom. He says it hurt like hell and the welts remained for days!
Mercifully, I was not bitten by this one :-)!

Thanks for looking and regards to all.

Прекалено светла е и се губи колорита на инак хубавпачк

Hello Ram,

That's definitely not an orb-weaver spider (Araneidae), most probably it's a hacklemesh weaver (Amaurobiidae).

Best regards,

Dmitry

Hello Ram,
This is a fine macro shot of a Hacklemesh Weaver Spider, species new to me. The sharpness and composition are first class and so is the elaborate, yet tasteful framing.
Thanks for this introduction in the world of spiders!
TFS and have a good weekend, Ivan

Hello Ram,
Most impressive shot of this large, brightly coloured spider. Excellent capture showing sharp details. You say it was fairly big, I wonder how big they are?
TFS and best wishes, Ulla
