PYRRHOCORIDAE

Friends, I posted a picture of these mating bugs on November 23.
I am posting another picture of them today which I took from a different perspective. Like many of our TN friends, I had to lie on the ground to get this perspective because the plant they were mating on was just about 6 inches tall :-)!

Though I am not still very sure of their exact ID, I believe they belong to Pyrrhocoridae family and are also known as Cotton Stainers in the US.
Here is a brief note on the family in general:

Pyrrhocoridae is a family of insects with more than 300 species world-wide. A common species in parts of Europe is the firebug. They are part of the order Hemiptera which are also known as the 'true bugs'. A few are important crop pests. They are called cotton stainers because their red bodies get crushed along with the cotton they eat when it is harvested, and these stains are difficult to remove. Their feeding mechanism also cuts the fibres and hence affects the growth of the cotton ball. They caused massive problems in the United States during the industrial boom.

Thanks for looking and best regards.

Hi Ram
Hidden in the green. Interesting shot. It could be PYRRHOCORIDAE but I am not shure ;-)
Best wishes
Krzysztof

Hi Ram,
Superb macro shot. Great sharpness, nice details, and neat image.
These insects like to hide when they are doing this....

Hi Ram,
This is another view of COTTON STAINERS.
I like this perspective, but hidden part of body is regrettable.
Lovely colours, Well composed!!
Best Regards,

Hello Ram,
Interesting pov. Just can't help about the head of a Cotton Stainer that bury behind the plant. Well done and TFS.

Hi Ram.
What an unusual POV and interesting view opening at our eyes. Beautiful colourful bugs, nice scenery and lovely light tones. May be DOF is not large enough. My best regards and TFS.
Alexei.
