[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is another view of Zanskar mountain range which I took from the roadside while descending from Khardung La (World's highest motorable pass at 18,380 feet ASL). The panoramic view of Zanskar mountain range beyond Leh valley is clearly visible at horizon. To clear this route on Ladakh range snow movers are almost every alternate day on the job.

The geology of the Himalaya is a record of the most dramatic and visible creations of modern plate tectonic forces. The Himalayas, which stretch over 2400 km, are the result of an ongoing orogeny — the result of a collision between two continental tectonic plates. This immense mountain range was formed by huge tectonic forces and sculpted by unceasing denudation processes of weathering and erosion.

The Himalaya-Tibet region is virtually the water tower of Asia: it supplies freshwater for more than one-fifth of the world population, and it accounts for a quarter of the global sedimentary budget. Topographically, the belt has many superlatives: the highest rate of uplift (nearly 1 cm/year at Nanga Parbat), the highest relief (8848 m at Mt. Everest Chomolangma), the source of some of the greatest rivers and the highest concentration of glaciers outside of the polar regions. This last feature earned the Himalaya its name, originating from the Sanskrit for "the abode of the snow".

I like your preference for the ice wall in the foreground, Subhash. Gives authenticity to the impressive altitude of Khardung La.
The Zanskar range again looks majestic on the horizon against a blue sky.

Unusual how one can see man's influence on snow...snow is usually pure and in different forms until some machine or combination thereof arrive. You have captured both the natural and the extranatural as well...by the colour of the snow in fore. Very nicely done..

Absolutelly stunning picture! Mountains on horizon looks so monumental. Composition with blue sky and white peaks is superb.

Great shot! One has to travel to such remote parts, sometimes through treacherous roads to get these kinds of shots. The sky and snow covered mountains look wonderful.
