SCARLET SKIMMER

I shot this dragonfly on a muggy and hot August evening in north Punjab in India. There were quite a few of them frisking around in a rather untidy corner of the resort I was staying at. That explains the rather unappetizing background in this shot.
Anyway, here is a very brief note available on Wikipedia:

The Scarlet Skimmer or Crimson Darter (Crocothemis servilia) is a species of dragonfly of the family Libellulidae, native to east and southeast Asia and introduced to Florida and Hawaii.

TFL and regards.

Beautiful capture of a striking red dragonfly against the grey logsthat form a fine contrast.
The composition, lighting and sharpness are all top class.
Well done Ram, and thanks for sharing this one.
Best wishes, Ivan

Hello Ram,
I can think of a worse background, this is fairly neutral and makes the beautiful dragonfly stand out very nicely. Beautiful light, great sharpness and fine natural colours. Very well captured!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Yes it is scarlet for sure. Not sure if I have ever seen this one on TN...I do like the colour especially seeing it now in winter...and the backdrop is a nice piece of old wood..perhaps a step...very nice diagonal!
Bob

What a color Ram, it is as if the dragonfly is advertising a kind of danger to its predators. Your composition is, as usual, faultless. TFS.
