Mercifully, got some time to post a picture today.

The Red Pierrot (Talicada nyseus) is a small but striking butterfly found in South Asia and South-East Asia belonging to the Lycaenids or Blues family. Red Pierrots, flying weakly around and perching on the Kalanchoe plant, are usually noticed by excited children in gardens due to their beautiful striking patterns and colours.

Range

Sri Lanka, South India, Meghalaya, Assam, North Myanmar.

Status

Locally abundant. Widely distributed in Peninsular India, and has been recorded from many localities in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, and Orissa. Also found in the hilly regions of NE India and northern Myanmar. Studies suggest that they may be on the way to colonizing the foothills of the Himalayas due to changes in the habitat.

Habitat

Found in semi-arid plains, degraded patches of evergreen patches, and semi-evergreen forest, gardens, hill stations and forests , in fact wherever its foodplant, Kalanchoe, is abundant. It is found from the plains to 8000 feet.

Namastay, Mr. Thakur!

Another great shot! I appreciate the sharpness of your shot, well-constrained POV and good use of light. Striking contrast between the BG and B/W butterfly with nicely textured red colored band. Beautiful butterfly!
Wonderful Job!

greeting lou

Well, Ram, if it's a mercy to you, it's a blessing to us. What a great macro -- vivid, crisp, and clear where it needs to be, soft where the distractions lie.

Small, but striking, indeed. The juxtaposition of the red and black immediately draws the eye. Nice use of lighting, too.

Beautiful!

Hello Ram,
excellent capture of this beauty, sharp details, nice colors and light,
regards,
Nikos.

If I said this before..I shall say it once more..This is not only the most unusual coloured one I have seen and #2 it still looks almost like some particular countries flag colours...but I'll be doggone if I can figure out which one...if any..maybe just a trick of my eye..Well seen Ram...

Hello Ram !
It's great to see that sometimes you still have some time for TN, as we would lose one of our most important members if we lost you. The butterfly you chose to post today is a wonderful one, I love the red, black and white colors. I also like his pose, and I like how he is standing out on the dark BG. Details, composition and POV are excellent. Very well done !
Valérie.

Albert

Hi Mr. Ram,
A nice capture of this beautiful red pierrot butterfly. Very well composed with good details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Sincerely
HP

Hi Ram Sir,

How are you doing? You diappeared from TN for quite some time.

This is amzing capture of the little butterfly. Very nicely focused. Awesome colours. Very nicely positioned and you have framed it nicely. Very nice composition.

TFS,
Kedar

A lovely shot, Sir...
The dark BG sets off the beautiful insect very well!
As a matter of fact, I'd call this a very bold composition, given that the edges of the wings that have black, kind of merge with the blackness of the BG...
But you've pulled it off very well, Sir!
Bravo!
Goldy

Hi
Good photo, Ram Sir. Well composed. The black wings blends smoothly with the black BG . Good colours and POV. However the blurred green leaf / blade of grass near the head of the butterfly , is a mild distraction.

Have a NiceDay :)

Ciao Ram, nice red pierrtt against a dark blurry BG, lovely details and splendid sharpness, wonderful colors and beautiful light, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Ram.

Thank you for that picture from the Talicada nyseus.

I particularly appreciate the composition from the photography and your point of view. The sharpness is good all along the butterfly, so that we are able to see many details. The colors are very vivid. The background is perfectly well appropriated to the subject.

Thank you for the sharing.

See you soon on treknature for other pictures.

All the best.

Philippe.
