RED-VENTED BULBUL

It has turned very hot in North India now -- 40 degees Celcius and above during day time. Even the mornings are hot.
This Sunday morning, I ventured out to look for some wild life. The first in view were a pair of Red-vented Bulbuls. They were lounging under the shade of a bush and just resting. When I aimed my camera at them from a distance of about 3 meters, one flew away. So I took two shots of the remaining one.
Since it it resting on the ground, its red vent is not visible.

Here is a note on the bird taken from Wikipedia:

The Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to Myanmar and southwestern China, and has been introduced to Fiji and Hawaii. It is also common in urban parts of Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

This is a bird of scrub, open forest, plains and cultivated lands. It builds its nest in a bush; two or three eggs is a typical clutch.

Red-vented Bulbul is about 20cm in length, with a long tail. It has brown or black upperparts, with a white rump. The breast is brown or black, and the rest of the underparts are white apart from the red around the vent. The head and small crest are black.

Sexes are similar in plumage, but young birds are duller than adults. The flight is bouncing and woodpecker-like.

There are a number of regional variations in plumage, mainly with respect to the upperpart and breast colour. Red-vented Bulbuls feed on fruit, nectar and insects.

The Red-vented Bulbul is incapable of synthesizing vitamin C. It shares this feature with a very limited number of other animals, among which are certain fruit bats and primates (including humans) as well as the guinea pig.

Thanks for looking and have a nice day.

Hola Ram,
Such a cute bulbul, taken from an ant's eye view, but surely not by an ant my friend! What were you doing there, lying on the ground in that heat? You've succeeded in capturing a high degree of plumage and colouration details, in spite of the difficult conditions, not an easy achievememnt.

Hi Ram,
And it's oddly cold here in Ankara for May 11.5 °C... Your frontal POV gives us a very detailed view of the bird. Catchlight in the eye and details on the plumage are very good. Well composed capture with good details. TFS
Greetings,
Selen

Hi Ram!
Very good POV and sharpness. Interesting natural light and shadows. Very good photograph!
TFS, cheers

Ram Sir,
A very different take on this bird, Sir.You've got a lot of details on display here, but I do wonder how it's so black. Is it naturally that way, Sir?Coz if it is, then it's very different from normal RV Bul-buls.
Excellent shot, sir.

Hello Sir,
Somehow I did not get the email alerts. Had to goto every individual to search for their picture. Very nice image and good one against the dark lighting. Ganesh

I have posted a video with background music by an OZ group whim I enjoy because of their politics...of giving the land back to the aborigines...quite the politically active group...but in teh lyrics they happen to mention 45 degrees in the OZ desert...You should see it here:
