[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These Common Emigrant butterflies are really common in the northern part of India. Frankly, I do not feel like taking their pictures. It so happened that last year while I was trying to shoot some dragonflies in the garden, this fellow just landed on the lantana flower just about a metre away from me and I sort of reluctantly focused on it and took this picture.
It is, apparently, a male of the species.

The Common Emigrant or Lemon Emigrant (Catopsilia pomona) is a medium sized pierid butterfly found in Asia and parts of Australia. The species gets its name from its habit of migration. Some early authors considered them as two distinct species Catopsilia crocale and Catopsilia pomona.

It's strange how shot that we only take half-heartedly often turn out to be superb!
Like this excellent capture of a Common Emigrant.
Technically this is close to perfest in every way anf the composition with the lantana flowers is excellent. Though the BG is almost for its camouflage the butterfly is well seen with excellent sharpness and DOF.

A fine capture indeed Ram, and a beautiful composition on a green-on-green theme with just the necessary amount of purple for the needed colour contrast. Good job my friend.
