[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Gomti River, also known as the Gumti or Gomati, is a tributary of the Ganges River. The Gomti originates in the Himalaya Range of Nepal. It extends 805 km (500 miles) through Nepal,Uttarnchal and Uttar Pradesh, a state of India. The Indian cities of Lucknow, sultanpur and Jaunpur are located on the banks of the Gomti. The river which is so pristine here in mountains gets polluted, owing to the large factories and tanneries in the state of Uttar Pradesh, which has affected fish populations.

According to Hindu mythology the river is daughter of Sage Vashistha, and bathing in the waters of the Gomati can wash away one's sins.
