This picture was taken last year at Jim COrbett National Park. The park has a curious mix of moist-deciduous and grassland. The park is named after Jim COrbett, the famed British railways employee and naturalist. His writings however are widely popular with titles like the Man eater of Kumaon, Jungle lore etc. Jim Corbett omnibus is also available in 2 volumes. Though i have serious problems with his views about the forests, his work makes a good reading.
The night before this picture was made was a memorable one. We were a staying at the forest resthouse when a herd of elephants came to feed nearby late in the night. For some reason they took a liking for the water pipes and ripped the connection from the overhead tank. The next day morning we were left without water and were forced to use the stream nearby, when they were still hanging around at a distance and keeping a tab on us.
