| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Indian Tortoiseshell (Nymphalis kaschmirensis) is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in Asia.
Upperside of foreings with the basal half of costa and termen pale brown, the former flecked with pale yellow, the latter bordered inwardly by a narrow darker brown band bearing a series of black lunules; outwardly traversed by sinuous slender subterminal and more slender terminal black lines : base of wing and the greater part of interspace 1a and of 1 posteriorly brown, irrorated with golden scales, the rest of the wing anteriorly yellow, posteriorly and at base of cell red, with the following black markings.
It is found in The Himalayas from Kashmir to Sikkim at elevations of 2000 to 18,000 feet.
I wanted to show where these Butterflies are found and hence included the beautiful Himalayan range of mountains at the back. This was found on a common Flower feeding and the Mountains are called " Paanch chuli" meaning five fingers. so we can imagine its range of flight . |

Hello Satish,

Hello Satish,
Nice note to show the importance of this specie. I agree with shekhar note probably you are taking out your magic one by one. Lovely shot. The yellow flower with dark brown of the butterfly not only adding beauty and also shining effect. Ganesh
Hi Satish,
To depict a subject with meaningfull back ground is very good Idea, most of the times we see pictures without its natural habitat, cropped to make it bold.I think you have many more in the bag...slowly letting it out:) TFS.
