[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was in the garden yesterday morning, wanting to test my new Sigma 18-200mm lens. Did not find any insects --only the usual birds. Red-vented Bulbuls are residents in the garden.
I saw the mother Bulbul feeding this baby on the lawns. When I went closer, they flew up to perch on a young tree. I approached the tree and when I was 2 meters away, the mother flew off to another tree but the baby remained there. It did not mind me when I went even closer and started taking its pictures. I even used fill flash in one shot.
You can see that this juvenile has yet to get a really red vent.
Here is the note on the species:

The Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to Myanmar and southwestern China, and has been introduced to Fiji and Hawaii. It is also common in urban parts of Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
This is a bird of scrub, open forest, plains and cultivated lands. It builds its nest in a bush; two or three eggs are a typical clutch.
Red-vented Bulbul is about 20cm in length, with a long tail. It has brown or black upperparts, with a white rump. The breast is brown or black, and the rest of the underparts are white apart from the red around the vent. The head and small crest are black.
Sexes are similar in plumage, but young birds are duller than adults. The flight is bouncing and woodpecker-like.
There are a number of regional variations in plumage, mainly with respect to the upperparts and breast colour. Red-vented Bulbuls feed on fruit, nectar and insects.
The Red-vented Bulbul is incapable of synthesizing vitamin C. It shares this feature with a very limited number of other animals, among which are certain fruit bats and primates (including humans) as well as the guinea pig.

Thanks for looking and regards to all.

Hello Ram,
This is a lovely view of the young Bulbul against a beautiful background. Great focus on the eye and the broad beak typical for the young! Details are very sharp and I like its pose up the tree.
