Great Thick-Knee
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This bird is a juvenile edition of a stone plover commonly known as great thick-knee. I am happy to discover a bird within the ambit of the campus that has not been enlisted in the campus-bird direcory as of now. Though it enlists beach stone curlew or beach stone plover.
I enquired about this to the admins of the site keepers. They said it was extinct by '88-89 in the wilderness [read IIT kanpur]. So it gives me a kick of pleasure to re discover them in my alma mater.

I shall dedicate this post to the founder of the campus web-directory of birds who did a profound painstaking job. He is still doing it by discovering brand new species of birds in the wild parts of north east India. |

Nice shot. Good pov, and the eye is clearly visible. Congratulation on this discovery.
