I've written about this beautiful little bird, The Common Iora, in my previous post in this series.
So I again share with you some beautiful poetry.

The Lonely-Bird

In the Adirondacks

By Harrison Smith Morris

O DAPPLED throat of white! Shy, hidden bird!
Perched in green dimness of the dewy wood,
And murmuring, in that lonely, lover mood,
Thy heart-ache, softly heard,
Sweetened by distance, over land and lake.

Why, like a kinsman, do I feel thy voice
Awaken voices in me free and sweet?
Was there some far ancestral birdhood fleet
That rose and would rejoice:
A broken cycle rounded in a song?

The lake, like steady wine in a deep cup,
Lay crystal in the curving mountain deeps;
And now the air brought that long lyric up
That sobs, then falls and weeps,
And hushes silence into listening hope.

Is it that we were sprung of one old kin,
Children of brooding earth, that lets us tell,
Thou from thy rhythmic throat, I deep within,
These syllables of her spell,
This hymnëd wisdom of her pondering years?

For thou hast spoken song-wise in a tongue
I knew not till I heard the buried air
Burst from the boughs and bring me what thou sung,
Here where the lake lies bare
To reaching summits and the azure sky.

Thy music is a language of the trees,
The brown soil, and the never-trodden brake;
Translatress art thou of dumb mysteries
That dream through wood and lake;
And I, in thee, have uttered what I am!

TFL!

Hi Goldy,

A nice closer up shot of this lovely bird. A good pose with beautiful colors and good details of his face, eye and plummage. I love the soft colors in the blurred background.

Jane

Wonderful capture of this lovely, green bird, Goldy.
In fact, the partial view of it has greater appeal for me; I'll keep imagining about the rest of it hidden behind the thick branch :)!
Excellent focus, colours and details.
You are a poet at heart so your retention of quite a few branches of the tree around the bird makes it a "poetical" composition.
Well done and TFS.
Ram

Beautiful framing and composition. I love the way he's bent forward in his pose, almost as if something caught his attention - literature, perhaps? Or more likely, something to eat.

His color is rich, the DOF perfect, and the lighting subdued - which is terrific because his splash of color really stands out. Thanks for brightening my evening.

There is a flavor to this...I think I shall call it Lime Blue...Only you could do some kind of magic such as this...I suppose it is just the way it is pictured, but doggone it..I cannot get an image to look like that...very neat...whatever or where ever..
Bob

I missed this one while I was away. A great capture of the Common Iora showing the head and most of the body with fine sharpness and colours against a pleasing OOF BG and the composition is nicely framed by the branches of the tree.

Hi Goldy,
Wonderful shot of this cute little Common Iora with nice colours and details on its plumage. Among those criss-cross branches it sits majestically. Great light and exposure handling and I like the natural feel about this image. Excellent POV and very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.

Hi Goldy
I think the Iora is a beautiful colour. I hope his colour helps him blend into his surroundings so he can stay safe from preditors. He looks similar to the Goldfinch. Nice sharp detail, color and composition. Your poem is lovely.
TFS Janice
