For someone that talks tiger conservation all the time, it sems very funny that all I end up doing is posting elephant shots!Well, all I can say is that when I see tigers, I forget to click them! They're simply so beautiful!
And tiger conservation because if tigers are there, we'll at least have our jungles, else they'll go, too!
Corbett has mentioned tigers and elephants together, quite often, the most interesting one being in Jungle Lore.Usually these two animals avoid confronting each other. In this encounter he talks about there being no reason for the fight apart from the fact that what had started as a lark- by a pair of mating tigers when an elephant tried to shoo them away-developed into a real fight.
(I've witnessed,or should I say heard, elephant-Tiger fights when I was a child. They were terrible. When tigers roar with anger, it is indeed a terrifying noise, and when the screaming of a maddened elephant is added to this, it is absolutly nerve-wracking!)
In Corbett's tale, the elephant was found dead on the high banks, by the local people.
At the Dhangadi Gate which leads to Dhikala, there is a museum of sorts, and in it you can find a dead tiger stuffed, which was the victim of one of the many other fights between these two most powerful animals (I've got that shot in the Workshop)

Hi Goldy
You have an interesting story about the elephant and tiger. I also wonder why they would stuff the tiger.

It's great to see elephants in their natural habitat. The elephants give a nice perspective to the size of their environment.

TFS Janice

Hello Goldy..Interesting story...I like the fields and mountains on the background....Elephants walking peacefully on the fields... Good work...Regards from London, Leyla

This image gives me a definite weather feel...I can feel it in my nose and on my skin..not sure what...I can smell something in the picture...a certain and oddly almost erotic odor...and the pale colours give it not etheral but some sort of dry, hot look. this image says much more than I can understand...but it isn't quiet!
Bob

Hello Goldy

What a wonderful view.
Seeing elephants in the wild like that must be exhilarating.
The pov gives a wonderful sense of their environment.
Such a large beast looks so small in relative scale.
Great job.

Nice long shot showing these elephant in their natural habitat - I really like the fact that you have to search for the elephant - it demonstrated the imensity of the landscape.

Bonjour Goldy
L'ambiance et la sensation d'immensité est bien rendue.
Les éléphants sont tout petits , mais cela n'enlève rien à l'ampleur du site
Merci
Laurent

Hi Goldy,
Another nice view of the Jim Corbett National Park. Very good composition with nice notes and also the WS. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Bellissimo paesaggio, molto bella la composizione con il senso dei grandi spazi e di un'atmosfera tranquilla sotto questo cielo nuvoloso, buona nitidezza, belli e delicati i colori: Graziee complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hi Goldy,

A beautiful landscape showing the vastness of the area. This is how animals should be free to roam. We spent an early freezing morning in Rathambone (sp?) in search of tigers. They had been spotted the day before and the day after but we weren't so lucky. I have seen elephants in the wild and refuse to look at them in the zoo after that.

Hello Goldy,
An excellent landscape shot from the Corbett National Park. I like the composition of the hills and the valley in the FG. The tiny elephants are great in giving the image perspective and scale.
Thanks for sharing the great view,

Hello Goldy,
I love your elephants so please let's have more!! Here they are so tiny and put into proportion with the impressive misty hills in the background. I'm always amazed at how much wildlife there still is in India - so we must enjoy it while it remains! I expect the misty look is partly pollution that I hope will be reduced in the future!
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla
