The kiang (Equus kiang) is the largest of the wild asses. This equine is native to the Tibetan Plateau, where it inhabits montane and alpine grasslands from 4000 to 7000 meters elevation.
Other common names for this species include Tibetan wild ass, khyang, and gorkhar.
This picture is taken in the early morning hours at Tsokar Lake where they roam freely.... at an altitude of around 4600 m. |
