Noh Ka Likai falls is situated in Cherrapunjee, locally known as Sohra. It is a hill station located 30kms from Shillong, Meghalaya. Its name is associated with a tragic story of a woman and her infant child.
This woman Likai remarried after the death of her first husband with who she conceived their child.
The new husband wanted children of his own and the woman only wanted her first child, growing jealous over the first born he took the child to the fields while the woman was away to the market.
On her return she found the dinner laid on the table, they followed the custom of who ever got back home early prepaired dinner.
She sat down to eat and as she finished her meal, at the bottom of the rice bowl she found the severed fingure of her infant child. Unable to believe the inhumane ordeal she went through, she ran out in a mad fit. At that moment she wanted to kill her second husband, she grew insane when she couldn't find him she
took a plunge from this very water fall ending her life in agony.
After this the witnesses carried on the tale of her tragic end.
Since this location is the wettest place on Earth receiving more rainfall than any other place it is mostly covered with dense clouds and fog, the legend follows the person who gets a clear view of the falls is blessed.

Noh means plunge
Ka is female gender perspective
Likai is the name of the woman

Hi there Shal, stunning waterfall. You were blessed to be able to see all the falls, and the view of the bottom is so sharp and clear, well in focus. Good job, well done.
Sad legend though...
