The Teesta River is one of the most scenic rivers in Eastern India. The tortuous river course gives it a unique dimension with picturesque vista at every turn. The gusty cold wind blows all around on your face with icy cold rumbling crystal clear water to touch in its grand wilderness !

I have taken this photograph from a bridge during morning hours with the sunlight entering into the gorge from NE direction, elucidating part of the landscape where as rest remains under the shade of high Himalayan Mountains.

I dedicate this view to no one other than my dear friend from Cheney, Bob Shannon. He happens to be my neighbor today :)

Teesta River:-
The river originates from Cho Lhamu Lake at an elevation of 5,330 m (17,500 feet) above sea level in the mighty Himalayas. This lake lies to the north of the Donkia Pass near Shetschen, where the summit of the pass is about eight kilometres north-east of Darjeeling as the crow flies.

The Teesta River is then fed by rivulets which arise in the Thangu, Yumthang and Donkia-La ranges. The river then flows past the town of Rangpo where it forms the border between Sikkim and West Bengal up to Teesta Bazaar. At Teesta Suspension Bridge, which joins Kalimpong with Darjeeling, the river is met by its main tributary, the Rangeet River. At this point, it changes course southwards flowing entirely into West Bengal. The river hits the plains at Sevoke, where it is spanned by the Coronation Bridge which links the north east states to the rest of India. The river then courses its way to Jalpaiguri and then to Rangpur District of Bangladesh, before finally merging with the mighty Brahmaputra at Fulcherry (in Bangladesh).

Hello Subhash,
A lovely view of the Teesta River, well captured in a fine composition. The way the river winds towards the lighted part of the valley makes this composition very attractive.
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

Hi Subhash !

An excellent landscape surprised and play!
A perfect contrast of colors.
Have a pleasant day,
Adrian

Thank you good Dr... I feel blessed more times than anyone. You are a kind man with a wonderful family and a wonderful gift of taking pictures. The way in which you share these pictures is wonderful. You have had many good opportunities that others have not. I am always surprised by another shot from the air or from the city or from the jungle or from the mountains. All of them give us a wide landscape of what your country is like. Thank you once more.
Bob

Hi Subhash,

A beautiful autumn scene. The green trees along the banks of the river are a wonderful contrast to the changing colors in the background. I love the active river with the big boulders - it makes me want to see what is around the next bend.

The gorge of Teesta looks awesome in this shot, Subhash.
The contrasting light and shade in the gorge gives it a very natural outlook.
Good to see that both banks of the river at this point are verdant with thich vegetation.
TFS and regards.
