This Urtica (Stinging Nettle) has smaller and rounder leaves (also lighter and more finely cut) than the ones that are commonly seen in Europe.
We have a smaller native species here in New Zealand,a little like yours,but we also have a giant nasty Tree Nettle,which has killed a couple of people and many dogs,pigs horses etc.
I was stung by stinging nettles for the first time in approx 20 years last week, It really really hurt, your forget such pain when you become an adult! I was being clever thinking they couldn't get me through my jeans, I was so wrong...
These nettles are much prettier than ours, a lot lighter and with a rounder leaf.
