Yellow Pansy Male(Precis hierta hierta (Fabricius). Nymphalidae family.
All Pansies are beautiful butterflies. This yellow pansy I captured just in my own backyard. There use to be some open space with bushes, now an apartment is comingup.
Ok, this is rare image of yellow pansy, read on or look at the image.
I observed this one quite a few times among the bushes but never got a real good chance to capture. These pansies usualy prefer ground level perching on grass or rocks and you don't get a good background (I always look for good BG). One fine morning I found him sunbathing at a lower level and when I approached he flew only to perch on this lantana closing its wings. I made another attempt and positioned myself for a top angle. I had to bend for this closeup and spent next 45 minites shooting. First waited for it to open its wings, then focus, recompose and shoot . Sometimes I had rest my back and again bend to take few more images. I know it may not be possible to get this situation/cooperation again, so I persisted in taking more images, just in case. Finaly this pansy opened its wings to the maximum, that is it has drawn its forewings almost clear from the hindwings, as you can see here. It was a sight to watch, amazing design and colors. Thats the rare thing to see and capture.

Hello Ganesh,
It's butterfly time these days. There are so many beauties to admire on TN.
This one also belongs to it. The clear colours, sharpness, details and DOF are very good. Great composition with a very beautiful contrasting BG.

Hi Nagaraj , I can certainly appreciate your efforts in taking many photos while you get the chance , it is certain that many butterflies just do not often land with a nice background.

your efforts payed well with a very good image , good colors and sharpness , taken on a good plain with a nice field depth and composition. thanks for sharing

Exceptional rich, well saturated colors that contrast well and form an interesting pattern. Well captured with perfect exposure and well presented in nice composition. Precise focus shown in antennas. BRAVO!

Hi Nagarj,

Seems to be season for Butterflies and in particular Yellow Pansy? And getting this beauty at your own backyard is bonus. Looks like you have used fill in flash? as i can see shadow on the leaves behind or was it natural lighting? Good one. TFS.

Hi Nagaraj

A very beautiful close-up on this gorgeous species - the Yellow Pansy.
Your upper POV here is excellent to view all the lovely colors and the irridescence on its wings and the shallow DOF isolates your subject very well from the rest of the surroundings.
Sharp and well exposed, this is a very well taken shot!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hi Nagaraj,
The picture is very beautiful with placement of the subject at one end and the diagonal position of the butterfly. I did a small workshop , let me know what you think of it

You have some great butterfly shots in your gallery. Not sure why I haven't come across your work before now, but I'm here now I guess.
This one is a particularly well pattern species.
Excellent diagonal composition
Good sharpness
Very good DOF and POV
Good background
