[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Sri Lanka Frogmouth Batrachostomus moniligers is a resident and occur along the Western Ghats (India) up to Sri Lanka. They are often found in dense tropical and subtropical rainforests. Frogmouths are nocturnal. They sleep during day under thick foliage and are extremely difficult to spot. They seem to feed on moths, beetles and other insects.
It was a hot day at Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary and after a long drive the entire morning I had gone for a refreshing bath in the nearby stream, where I lay soaked in the water for more than two hours. After several threats from the kitchen staff, I finally decided to end my bath and head for the table. On the way to the dining hall amidst broad-leaved foliage, the Aralam DFO had spotted a Frogmouth pair. At the risk of antagonizing the kitchen staff I decide to spend some more time with this frogmouth.

What an interesting bird, Gopi. I have never seen one either. You captured it with very sharp details and great light. I love those big eyes looking at you. A pity about those two shapes in the corners. They are rather distracting. But the bird is wonderful. TFS. : )

What a great loooking bird! Those eyes are funny and amazing. A little more depth of field wouldn't have hurt so the beak would be in complete focus and the things in the corners are a bit distracting (could be removed or altered in PP), but I still love this picture. I'm glad you took the time to get this picture. Thanks for sharing it!

Excellent shot of this very interesting bird!
The details in eyes is great.
Well done and thanks for sharing!

Looks like you surprised this guy by the expression on the face. Nice work. Great shot. Lovely catchlight in the eyes. Well done. Thanks.

great capture Gopinath!! When I come home I want to visit this place. TFS!

Nice shot. The expression on the face looks very unique. Sharply focussed eyes make the picture lively.
