Hello Friends,

From Mr. Ram’s dedication of this Plain Tiger to me I came to know that this beauty is his favorite. So I wanted to dedicate him as soon as possible, but it so happened I could make one today itself. I am happy to dedicate this Plain Tiger for the person who’s encouragements might’ve inspired many like me.

This is another handheld shot, converted from RAW to JPEG and resized.

Info about Plain Tiger is dealt in detail in many of our friend’s postings. So I’m only providing few additional (I think so  ) trivia.

Butterflies have been appreciated throughout human history. In particular, the ancient Egyptians used them in their artwork. The plain tiger captured the interest of an unknown Egyptian artist working in Thebes some 3500 years ago, when he painted a fresco that included seven butterflies: the earliest recognisable butterfly art. The butterfly is still common today in modern Egypt. Entomologist Torben Larsen went further in his article on The Butterflies of Egypt (1994), remarking that '...it is somewhat ironic that the oldest painting of a butterfly should be from Egypt, one of the poorest habitats for butterflies anywhere in the world.'

However, some sources suggest that the climate in both Arabia and the Nile Valley may have been considerably wetter a few thousand years ago, so in fact the habitat may have been appreciably better then. Nonetheless, this butterfly is a great survivor since it can cross deserts and colonise new breeding areas in oases.

Bonita mariposa.
Buenos detalles los de las alas.
Lástima que el bg sea tan similar al borde de las mismas pues no se definen con claridad...
Un cordial saludo, JL.

Hi KV
Quite an interesting capture of the Plain Tiger with major attention to the wings.

Butterflies are such difficult beauties to cpature, that i think one really has to be trained for the kind of chase the butterfly offers.

Good colours fine PoV here. The details on the wings look rich and quite wonderful. But i think the dark BG affects the clarity and lighting one could have on the head of the butterfly. It takes a second look to identify and separate the head of the butterfly from the dark Bg.I am not sure whether it has anything to do with my monitor though!!!

Well done.
TFS & Cheers
