Huhhhhhhhh........got some releif from work.I was busy with Windows Vista installaton on my machine(thanks to my company)and beleive me, IT ROCKS. The UI is awesome. The best part is new features in photo management and editing. I liked it so much.
Here is first picture have taken this new year. I am posting it after a long time though. Actualy I had posted picture of Bee -Eaters a long time back. But pictures of JeanPaul has inspired me to post this one.
Taken early in the morning in back yard. Birds siting on electric wires is a common scene in India ( you can find lots of such pictures on TN).

Species Info:
The bee-eaters are a group of near passerine birds in the family Meropidae. Most species are found in Africa but others occur in southern Europe, Madagascar, Australia and New Guinea. They are characterised by richly coloured plumage, slender bodies and usually elongated central tail feathers. All are colorful and have long downturned bills and pointed wings, which give them a swallow-like appearance when seen from afar.Just as the expressive name reveals, bee-eaters predominantly eat insects, especially bees, wasps and hornets, which are caught in the air by sallies from an open perch. While they will pursue any type of flying insect, honeybees predominate in their diet. The world range of the bee-eaters is nearly identical to the native world range of the four species of honeybees. Fry et al. (1992) say that "in 20 separate studies of the diet of 16 kinds of bee-eaters, Hymenoptera (ants, bees and wasps) comprised from 20% to 96% of all insects eaten, and honeybees formed on average about one-third of the Hymenoptera". Catching an insect mid-air is referred to as sallying. Before eating its meal, a bee-eater removes the sting by repeatedly hitting the insect on a hard surface. During this process, pressure is applied to the insect thereby extracting most of the venom. Once an insect lands the bee-eater ignores it, even if in plain sight. Bee-eaters are programmed to catch things only on the wing.

Hi Mahesh

Stunning colours against a beautiful BG. Nice composition with a nice catchlight in the eye. The diagonal of the wire adds to the visual impact. Well done! TFS.

Hello Mahesh,
Fine capture of a Little Green Bee-eater, a species that I photographed in India myself.
This shot is sharp with excellent Bg, colouring and lighting set in a pleasing composition that would be even better without the heavy wire but as that's what bee-eaters like to sit on we have to accept it.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

bonjour Mahesh,

So we have turned "birds" of the same flock -- I mean bird photographers almost simultaneously, Mahesh :-)!!
You have done a great job with this Bee Eater. I can see you had to hoist your camera skyward to get this shot, but it has been a success. The sharp and clear image of the bird stands beautifully against the blue sky.
Well done and let us go on shooting birds with our cameras!
Regards,
Ram

Hi Mahesh and sorry for the delay

This is truely a superb capture with your S2!
The pose you maanged to capture this bee-eater in is really terrific and the "X" composition created by the string and the bird is exceptional!
The details are also very sharp and the colors vivid and beautiful!
The lovely blue of the sky makes a splendid BG, the framing is very nice and i also like the small catch-light in the bee-eater's eye.
Very good technical and arthistical work!

Bravo and TFS
