I hade been to my home on last week end to attend my nephew's (brother's son) first birthday. It was so fun with whole family.I was there only for one day so could not get much time to roam around and have some pictures. The spring is comming and Indians will soon celebrate the end of winter and start of spring by a festival well nown as HOLI.One thing i noticed is there are lots of small butterfies around. May be they are new borne after the mansoon. They were flying in morning sunlight like small kids it was awesome. This one i found just behind my home sitting on a gras leafe. This is soooooooooo small u can compare its size with the grass leaf. I had photographed this BF previously, but couldnt get this type of picture. I had sen hi from back side with wings wide open. I used whole of my zoom and took one snap but that turned black coz of its own shadow so swithced to flash and it turned like this one.

SPecies Info:
The Common Sailor is one of the several black-and-white "Sailors" in Singapore, and can sometimes be confused with Neptis leucoporos cresina or the Short Banded Sailor (Phaedyma columella singa) when in flight.
It is not as common as previously thought, and the butterfly is only seen in localised areas within the nature reserves and on Pulau Ubin. The underside of the Common Sailor is distinctly a rich golden brown and this separates it from the more common Neptis leucoporos cresina. The butterfly has a distinct weak gliding / "sailing" flight which is different from the other black-and-white genus Athyma species, which have a more robust and stronger flying pattern.

Hello Mahesh,
Excellent capture of this beautiful butterfly looking very fresh. Pretty sharp and lovely colours. Very nice composition!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hi Mahesh,
Just magnificent!
I like so much the POV to catch this pose on the butterfly.
You managed so well the light and the exposure to get all this clear and sharp details on the insect, specially on their wings, and their beautiful patterns and colors.
I like so much also the composition made here and the couple of glares got at the background.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hi Hahesh,
Very hard light due to the sun in your image.
Nevertheless the wings' colours are very nice in terms of saturation, contrast and so forth.
Well done
TFS

Hello Mahesh,
This is a sharp and well-composed shot of a Common Sailor ( I see the note about the species rfers to Singapore species: I wonder if this isn't another Neptis species?)
I like the BG and presentation in general.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Wow!
Beautiful!!
Excellent shot, Mahesh, with excellent sharpness, colors, DOF, lighting and composition. The butterfly is really a beauty, and look that eye!
Gorgeous!
My compliments and TFS.

Very good profile view of this lovely butterfly, Mahesh.
The colours are brilliant and I like the shadow of the butterfly on the long leaf. Despite strong light, you have managed the shot very well.
TFS.

Mahesh,

Very nice capture. Look at the sharp pattern in the eyes. I had not seen the pattern so sharp and colorful as one seen on this butterfly.

Beautiful, Mahesh.
Perfect POV showcasing the gorgeous markings and colors of this butterfly.
The details are sharp and well exposed, though the flash seems a bit harsh on the leaf.
A wonderful capture.
TFS. : )
