I had a feeling as if the image was distorted (stretched), Kedar, but then after reading your note, the Heron's pose is justified; it is using stealth to grab its prey.
The picture is very pleasant to look at with the ambience of a water lily pond. I guess that special colouring on the plumage of the bird indicates breeding season.
