What a beautiful insect you share with us this time. The colour is just magic, not forgetting to mention the detail of the eye and the "yellow striped cap" it is wearing. This is a real special image.This is one of the reasons why I like it so much to be part of Trek Nature because you think you've seen it all and then another one (like yours) pops up on the gallery and you stand amazed from the start. Hi Mayuresh,

Your name for this fascinating grasshopper sounds good to me. A very vivid green with that wonderful yellow trim around the head. Good details - the yellow eye looks like a button was sewn onto his face. A wonderful pose on the branch.

For half an hour, I went through all the images of grasshoppers on bugguide.net -- a comprehensive website on insects in US and Canada. Nothing resembles your specimen.
So this is a breakthrough picture of a unique species of Grasshoppers -- I think the first post of it on TN.
The image is very sharp and clear. I am really marvelling at that 'hood' fringed with yellow and with delicate details on it.
Hope there is some expert out there who can help us.
I will also keep a watch.

this is a marvel you've presented here. I've seen only brown cousin. But this is amazing in shape, color and details. You've captured not so common species, I believe.

This is a fine capture of an impressive grasshopper, that I wish I could ID. You might try surfing with the words 'ridge-backed' or keel-backed.
Whatever, this is taken from a great POV with fine sharpness and well composed to show the thoracic ridge well against the green bokeh BG.
