[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The world's largest congregation of Asiatic Elephants happen during the months of Mar-May every year on the banks of the river Kabini. Kabini flows through two major sanctuaries - The Nagarhole (Rajiv Gandhi) and the Bandipur Sanctuaries in the state of Karnataka. During the peak summer, the forests dry up and water becomes scarce. Water also recedes and the recession makes way for fresh grass to grow. The water and the grass attract the elephants from the nearby four sanctuaries spread across three political states of the country.

On a lucky day, during this season, one can expect to see upto 300 elephants on the banks of the river Kabini. We were lucky to see 150 elephants in a 5 kilometre stretch during an hours drive. We drove in the midst of elephant herds.

This was a single tusker, least bothered about us, as our car drove past him.

Hi Karthek

Great picture of the tusker - he had the biggest tusks of any Indian Elephant I have seen - so well done for that.

Good colours and POV.
