[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi

I found him/her a few days ago, on an afternoon in our campus walking around looking for food.

The Brahminy Mynah or Brahminy Starling, Sturnus pagodarum, is a member of the starling family of birds. It is a resident breeder in eastern Afghanistan, Nepal, India and Sri Lanka. The bird is popularly known as a mynah (Salim Ali describes it as a "typical myna"[1] in its behaviour and appearance, but recent taxonomic classification favours the Starling characterization. [2] Locally the bird is known as Bamani myna (Bengal/Bihar), Kalasir myna (Hindi), Pabiyapawi (Hindi-UP), Harbola (Bengal), Popoya Myna, etc.

This passerine is typically found in dry forest and scrub jungle. The Brahminy Mynah builds a nest in hole. The normal clutch is 3-4 eggs.

The adults of these 21cm long birds have grey upperparts and reddish-orange underparts and black wing quills. The head has a black crown, nape and crest, and the underneath of the tail is white. The bill and the strong legs are bright yellow, and there are yellow wattles on the gape. The recumbent crest may be fluffed up. Young birds have crestless sooty brown head and dull general coloration.

The sexes are similar, but juveniles are duller, lack the crest, and have a brown crown.Like most starlings, the Brahminy Starling is fairly omnivorous, eating fruit and insects.

Thanks for stopping by!!!!

Hello Iris,
Fine capture of a Brahminy Mynah, a species I last saw in Goa a few years ago, but didn't have the chance to photograph. So it's nice to see this sharp shot of the birds calling with an amusing pose to which you added a suitable caption.
One small point: composition is in the end a matter of taste but a good rule is to leave more space in front the subject. If it hadn't been the question posed by the bird the guideline could have been applied here...
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hola Irishues,
Simpática toma, con bonita presentación y gran nitidez. Saludos
José Ramón

Hello Iris, Good capture of Brahminy myna. Good sharpness and details. I liked its pose too. WAs it calling out for food?
TFS,
Smitha.

This Mynah seems to be quite loquacious (I love that word!)
Wonderful color!

With that rather noisy mouth wide open, I can hear in my mind the harsh screeching of this bird, Iris :-).
A well-timed snapshot. The characteristics of the bird's appearance are quite vivid here.
TFS.

Hi Irishues.
Your picture is simply perfect as well as the captured scene and moment. Everything is very good at your shot excluding cropping. It is better to leave more space at the left (on the glance direction). POV and DOF, details and sharpness, colours and exposure are excellent. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Irishues, what do you do to this bird?
It's very hungry!
Wonderful pose and splendid colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Iris, Fine shot of this lovely Mynah. The green grass where the mynah standing is adding more beauty. TFS Ganesh
