We encountered colored mountains with frozen river on our way to Pangong Tso lake.
Ladakh has an average elevation of 2,700 m to 4,200 m. Thearidity of this region is due to its location in the rainshadow area of the Great Himalayas, elevation and radiation of heatfrom the bare soil. The most striking physical feature of Ladakh, however, is the parallelism of its mountain ranges.
The region is extremely dry, with rainfall as low as 10 cm eachyear |
