[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have earlier uploaded two pictures of Picturewings and this is my third. All have different POVs. Portraying dragonflies in different perspectives and perching poses is an interesting challenge and I am spending some time to capture these outragious postures. This I believe also makes a good behavioural study.

The Picturewing (Rhyothemis variegata) is a species of dragonfly of the family Libellulidae, found in South Asia. They appear to have weak flight and can easily be mistaken for butterflies. They are found throughout the year, near marshes, ponds and paddy fields.

Scientific classification -
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Odonata
Suborder: Anisoptera
Family: Libellulidae
Genus: Rhyothemis
Species: R. variegata

Hi Sumon,
Interesting view looking down the wing of this dragonfly towards its body. Its a nice shot, especially the wat its holding on to the branch. Good DOF and sharpness,
regards
Matt.

Very nice capture Sumon. Perhaps a little more DOF by using a different aperture might have gotten more of the dragonfly in focus, but an outstanding capture nonetheless.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Sumon,
I probably have to visit India. This is an amazing capture of this dragonfly. The leaves of the plant are a bit on the light (and distracting) side, but nothing serious :-)
Compliments, Jacob

Hello Sumon,
The posture is indeed particular and it makes the picture look very artistic bacause of the turning mouvement suggested. In fact it looks like the petals of a flower. Very nice blurred background too.
Best regards
Anne

Sharp quality with a personality. It looks like a "dainty" she.....and on second thought...the way she is using her legs....or arms...it is a highly suggestive shot reminding the viewer perhaps of something else.....yet I digress.

Bob

Hi Sumon.
a beautiful picture with lovely colours, the brown tones are great.
Good details and sharpness where it counts, pity the DOF
is a bit shallow. The POV and pose are very nice.
Well done.

Another great one!
Great composition and while the focus is a little soft in place, the overall essence of the photo is great! :)

Aha.........amazing composition......DF are very interesting insects who like to hang on very small branches.
The focus is spot on the body. Very well captured shot

mahesh

I had a long session with this picturesque Picturewing in Mumbai last year, Sumon. In fact there were both female and male of the species vying with each other for my attention :-)! They were exceedingly cooperative and I shot them until my memory stick was full. I too tried numerous postures but then not all turned out to be all that good.
This perspective you got on the female is very attractive. I like the posture with the abdomen raised up.
The angle of light has created very interesting contrasts here and the overall composition is just beautiful.
TFS and regards.

Hello Sumon,
very well captured with perfect clarity, pov and details all round!
great work

Okay Sumon,
A subtle one...
Great sharpness/unsharpness ratio, whatever that might be:-)
Superb light and depth in the image.
Well composed.
A gem!!

Yes, this is an interesting pose! The focus is outstanding and the details are remarkable (especially the tiny hairs on legs). Very nice exposure and reflections on the wings. This is a great composition. It looks like you caught this one just as he was landing.
