The rains are finally here and its raining heavily since last two days.I saw this beautiful rose in the morning and this beautiful fly on the flower caught my attention. These insects play a major role in the process of polination.

About Pollination

Pollen is made by the male organs of a plant (anthers in flowers) and contains genetic information needed for plant reproduction. Pollination is the delivery of pollen to the female organs of a plant (stamens in flowers).

As a result of pollination the plants produce seeds. Pollen can be dispersed by wind, water and animal pollinators such as insects, bats and birds.

It is estimated that 65% of all flowering plants and some seed plants (e.g. cycads and pines) require insects for pollination. This percentage is even greater for economically important crops that provide fruits, vegetables, textile-related fibres and medicinal products.

Because insects are such efficient pollinators, plants have developed many ways of encouraging them to visit. This has led to some strong associations between plants and insects.

Pollination by insects is a much more reliable and efficient pollination mechanism than chance dispersal.

Pollination by insects is vital for crop production. One third of the human food supply is crops that are dependent on pollination by bees.

Hello Pankaj,
This delicate flower is captured with great skill!
Good texture in the petals, and you make well use of the light to create depth in the subject...
Tight framing works well, the insect is an extra bonus!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Pankaj

Although the little fly is very tiny on the photo at least it is doing what it normally does best and for most of the day namely collecting food and in the process pollinating the flower. And of course that brilliant pink rose is pure beauty.

IMHO the composition is fine although some might argue the central placing of the flower. I think with a big round flower like this, moving it off-centre would invariably only result in reducing its size and with the actual subject being a smallish hoverfly it would really be counting against the desired outcome. The colours are absolutely stunning and the details are nice and sharp. The lovely OOF green BG looks great and the exposure was well captured.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Pankaj, fascinating composition with a fly and a beautiful flower, great colors and splendid details, very well done, have a nice sunday, ciao Silvio

Hi pankaj,
excellent sharp image,marvellous colour,very well composed,well done

What a lovely flower Pankaj! I enjoy the composition with the flower tight against the top and the blurred green at the bottom. The insect doing his job and the pollination story is a nice compliment, well done.

Hi Pankaj,
Excellent capture. Nice POV and lighting. Very fine details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Lovely color and I like the soft light Pankaj. Sometimes overcast conditions produce the best macros..Great detail, with the color of the flower well seen bordered in green :)
Nice work!

Hello Pankaj,
This is an unusual way to present a hoverfly, yet despite its small size, it somehow dominates the considerably larger rose that it is engaged in, the fly being razor sharp.
The central composition is suitable here and the green leaf BG acts as a kind of inner frame, the whole being a nice shot to look at.
TFS and best regards,
Ivan

Pankaj Bhai Lovely lovely. I can see the fly is really enjoying in the tiny entrance. The POV is very good. Ganesh

This is a beautiful picture Pankaj with great details, exposure and colors. I also enjoyed these interesting notes. We have a problem with bees here this year as we lost about half the population from a disease and this is not a good situation and consequences of that might be serious... Thanks,
Claudine

Well done Pankaj. A picture for an important Day in your countries history. I was watching TV live from Spain yesterday with a Punjab friend..and your picture reminded me of the Taj being honored!

Hi Pankaj,
Focus, details and colors are very good. I liked the composition. TFS

I think it is some kind of Hoverfly patronizing the pink rose in your picture, Pankaj.
A pleasant combination of soothing colours with the fly literally at the centure of the composition.
Have you tried your 18-135mm on landscapes already? It has such a wide range of possibilities.
Thanks for your kind wishes on my return home.
Regards.

Hi Pankaj, this is a beautiful shot, well composed with excellent and very pleasing colour. The detail of the hover fly and the flower are very good. The drops of water with your excellent lighting help give it depth. Your depth of field is used very effectively here as well to provide further depth and to help isolate the flower from its background.

Thanks, John
