[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Meconopsis aculeata.
Common name: Blue Poppy, Gul-e-nilam, Kanta.
Plant: 60cm. Bristly-haired with erect stem.
Leaves: Deeply and irregularly pinnate-lobed, sparsely bristly-haired. Lobes usually rounded-toothed and widely spaced.
Flower: 5-7cm across. Petals 4.
Distributed from Pakistan, to Uttaranchal in India. (3000-4000m).
The root contains narcotic principles. The entire plant is used in Tibetan medicine, where it is considered to have a bitter taste and a cooling potency. Analgesic and febrifuge, it is used to help heal broken bones, to treat inflammation from fractures and pain in the upper bodily region, especially around the ribs.

I never saw a blue poppy, it's wonderful. Here, in Romania, there is a white-grey poppy, wich seeds are used in cookery and pharmaceutical industry.
