Inspite of the opened wrapping this gift came as a surprise for me as this is a special post of this differnt plain tiger and i am very much pleased to receive such a lovely gift from you, thanks a lot for the kind words and the wonderful gift.

regarding the shot i must say that i have never seen a plain tiger with red body and thorax inspite of shooting so many of them, ivan or peter may be able to throw some light on this, once again your sharp observations have resulted in a rare capture of plain tiger which i received in gift. I am honoured .

A truly prized gift for Pankaj on his anniversary as a member of TN, Sumon. I know he loves this butterfly.
The colour tones you have captured in this crisp shot are really remarkable. The dried up curly vegetation makes an excellent perch for the subject and the plain sober BG suits it like the proverbial glove.
Overall a first rate work of art.

Hi Sumon,
Great shot on this common tiger. Sharp image and well exposed. Great pov and composition. I believe this one is a bit different. Normally the head part is black with white dots. Well done picture and tfs.

This is an excellent dedication to Pankaj, a popular and respected TN nature photographer.
Excellent shot that is technically superb.

This is a rare red form of the Plain Tiger. Just as some humans are red-headed, other forms of life can either have a form with a dominance of red pigment or other colours are replaced by red. Generally in lower forms of life it manifests as an aberration and is genetically recessive, as is the case here.
