[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Friends, I returned this morning to New Delhi (Noida) after an unplanned visit to my native village in the hills of Himachal Pradesh.
My youngest brother died in a freak road accident on October 29. The moment I heard the news in the morning, I rushed home.
I am emotionally drained at the moment; losing the youngest of five brothers does take its toll.

I dedicate this picture of the Painted Lady (Ivan suggests it's an Indian Red Admiral) to my late brother. I took this picture at Dharmasala, Himachal Pradesh, during my last visit there this summer. My brother's young widow hails from this place. That's why I chose this picture as a tribute to him.

I will be back to TN soon.

Dear Ram,

Hello Ram,
Let me express my condolences for the loss of your youngest brother. Butterflies being associated to the souls (in Greek the same word has both meanings), it's a beautiful way to say good by to somebody we love. The buttefly seems just on the point to lift up..to the sky

I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest and most honest condolences.
I can't imagine how you feel, but taking some time off from everythging, including TN, might be a good idea...to clear your mind.
This is a wonderful dedication for your brother and i'm sure he would have been happy with it.
Great light and wonderful composition...adjectives that can somehow express a life of a human, too.

Hi Ram, so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. It must be indeed hard. My father died in September and I am still finding it difficult. This is a lovely tribute and, as always, you have made a beautiful shot of this lovely Butterfly. I like the pov and light, colour, detail and sharpness magnificent. Great composition. It is hard isn't it...? One simply never knows..one day here and the next...gone... it puts our will and spirit to the full test. Yet we are all human. Somehow as my mother said so often "....and this too shall pass." You are more than likely still in some shock and will be for quite a while. The youngest....I pray every day for my 7 children. I do not know what I would or will...do if it comes to that. My older brother and only sibling died when I was 5, yet here at age 62 I can still see him..you know? I held love in my heart at a young and tender age. I still hold it now.

May you be Blessed with some spirit healing soon to help you soon...and hold his memory high as you will. I have come to know you. I feel as though I know him as well...

Really sad news Ram, I know how you feel, I lost my only brother a few years ago and I still feel the pain deep inside. Life goes on and the ones who love you will sooth the pain to their best. I send you my best toughts and I thank you for this beautiful picture.
