[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Nymphalid (related to the Brush-footed butterflies ) is one of the four Pansies found here. The Peacock Pansy derives its common name from the prominent spots on its wings.

It can be found gliding in sunlit grassy plains on the forest edges. It is not as common as in the past, where the species can be found in the company of the Blue Pansy in suburban gardens and open grassy patches. This may be due to the widespread spraying of insecticides to get rid of mosquitoes in these areas. Today, most observations of the Pansies are in the nature .

The butterfly has a bright orange upperside with prominent eyespots on the hindwings. The undersides are somewhat paler, but with the eyespots still rather prominent.

Beautiful Background.. but I feel that focus is on the wing than on the eye.. May be you can selectively sharpen that eye part more...

Hi Pankaj,

How beautiful can a butterfly be? This is lovely with wonderful colors and beautiful details. The markings are gorgeous. It is posed on a lovely flower and the black backgrounds shows everything off very well.

Jane

Sorry I can't see the focus in the eyes which I consider to be the most important part of the insect. That's because, instinctively, we humans try to look at the eyes. A little less DOF would also have contributet to the illumination of the background. Unless you catched it flying at night of course!!!

Excelente combinación de colores con una
casi perfecta iluminación. Buen encuadre.
Buena presentación.

Saludos Pankaj.

The surrounding black including that of the frame pushes the subject forward in a strong way, Pankaj.
It is a brilliant capture of this ornate butterfly.
The perspective is innovative and original.
Well done and TFS.

Hello Pankaj,
another superb image.
+++ The black BG causes the butterfly to stand out significantly and the colours are emphasised dramatically.
Very sharp and defined with excellent clarity.
Nicely composed and a decent POV.
--- Th head is slightly OOF but some specific sharpening could sort that out pretty easily. I did a workshop to show what it would look like with it... I hope you don't mind!
Nonetheless this is another stunning capture from you Pankaj!
Well done,
Joe

Hi Pankaj, a well composed colourful picture. The use of flash has created the right BG enhancing its value.

Well done,

Warm regards,

Kiran
