[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This butterfly was perched on the small creeper branch and i saw it from my 1sr floor gallery . The shot has been taken handheld with the support of wall using sigm 70\300 in macro mode. Raw to jpeg, cropping, resizing and framing done.

The Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus) or - outside Asia - African Monarch is a common butterfly which is widespread in Asia and Africa. It belongs to the danaine ("Crows and Tigers") subfamily of the brushfooted butterfly family Nymphalidae.

It is believed to be one of the first butterflies to be used in art. A 3500 year old Egyptian fresco in Luxor features the oldest illustration of this species (Larsen 1994).

The Plain Tiger can be considered the archetypical danaine of India. Accordingly, this species has been studied with in greater detail than other members of its subfamily occurring in India.

The Plain Tiger is a medium sized butterfly with a wingspan of about 7–8 cm. The body is black with many white spots. The wings are tawny the upper side being brighter and richer than the underside. The apical half of the fore wing is black with a white band. The hind wing has 3 black spots around the center. The hind wing has a thin border of black enclosing a series of semicircular white spots.

Hi Pankaj,
A very nice composition I would say and it is different and also looks good to my eyes. That's all what I have to say. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Pankaj
Excellent photography. Good detail, as if this butterfly is balancing itself like a trapeze artist in the circus. You have a wonderful portfolio filled with wonderful photos. You are surely a talented photographer. One of your previous photos that you have dedicated to Loot Eksteen caught my eye and I thought it was as beautiful as your lovely gesture. Thanks for sharing..
Kind regards
Aaltjie

I have been complaining about not getting many chances at good images like this...and now yesterday I looked at many Hi8 Videos I took from 1998-2004 of my gardens and there were butterflies all over. I had to shoe them out of the way for my pictures...Guess I didn't know about TN, Sumon and you back then. A nice image in Pankaj stle..

Hello Pankaj,
Lovely capture of the Plain Tiger from a fine POV. The light is beautiful and so are the colours. A little soft on details but that's no problem in this artistic and well-composed shot.
Many thanks, Ulla

Brilliant composition. The subject is so precariously balance. The lighting is great. Love the dark bg. :)
