| There is only one way out or in, and only open a few months at most, of the year. Landslides and snow keep out road traffic most of the time. It has rugged mountain beauty, glacier rivers, and varying landscapes.A shot from the rescue helicopter, as I leave Peo. The river in Tibet was damned by 2 landslides, for 2 years. When they gave way, the enormous amount of water, washed away all life along the river, and the road. Two army bases, villages, people, gone forever. (I was in a beautiful, small village, Kalpa. I managed to get a ride in a truck to Peo, and a helicopter ticket out. The red marks and smudges on the photo are the blades of the helicopter spinning in my photo.) |

Hi Gloria,
Very nice aerial view of this remote area, it has a rugged beauty all its own..Sad story in your notes, a great tragedy.
Well done,
Howard
Hello Gloria,
Wonderful point of view!
Amazing impression of the narrow valley, with the whitewater stream in a serpent pattern...
I also notice the difference in vegetation on the two sides of the valley!
Greetings,
Pablo -
