[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Every now and then Cheeky Boy would give me a short piercing stare. Just showing me that he was totally aware of my presence. To be tolerated by him, in his domain, is a great great honour and I only wish that I could give him something in return. I have visited Ranthambhore many times now over a few years and during that period I have seen how Machali (Cheeky Boy's Mother) has given the park so many beautiful tigers, many of whom have gone off to make their own territories. It is with the greatest of pride that I can say I have walked in tiger country, even though 95% of my time in the forest is spent in the back of the open jeeps, I have sometimes been lucky enough to be allowed to walk for short distances with one of the park rangers there. At those precious moments I never saw a tiger, but I am certain that they saw me and that is enough for me to say that my life has been worth living. It is totally alien to me and I will never ever come to terms with how any - so called - "human" could ever raise a gun and even point it in the direction of one of my beautiful tigers, let alone pull the trigger. It is something that leaves a great void in my heart and leads me to despair about my own species. It is also amazing how throughout the World there are so many great people that put their whole hearts and souls into conserving and preserving our wild creatures and the habitat where they live. How can one species be so diverse? It takes so much more courage to walk in the forest armed with nothing more than my camera than it does for a moronic hunter with his gun. Thats why I can say I am proud of myself but they will never rise above the level of morons.

Regards

Roy

Hi Roy!

You can really feel this beautiful animals stare. Oh how I wish I would see one in my lifetime in the wild. Your note is really touching and I'm glad more people feel like me on these matters.

The colours in this photo feels a bit overdone... maybe try to tone down the red a bit? Or maybe he looks like that?

Overall very excellent photo with nice focus and sharpness on the tigers head.

Thanks for sharing!!

Johannes

you are lucky to get this close to a wild tiger, he has amazing color to him, though there might be a little too much saturation in color

Roy, this is a wonderful capture of "Cheeky Boy".
I like the way its eyes are seen through blurred green of a leaf.
The colour of the Tiger is a little over-saturated, IMHO.
I read in the Indian press yesterday that some of the Ranthambhore tigers are being shifted to Siriska -- now totally bereft of tigers since 2004, thanks to those bl....... poachers!
TFS and regards.
