Friends,

It has been a while since I posted a picture. I had been very busy with work in the last few weeks. To break the silence, I thought of posting this picture of Blue Jay in rain.

This picture was taken at Hesarghatta Lake near Bangalore this Sunday. To start with the place is about an hour and half from Bangalore. As we reached the place, the weather was bleak and was drizzling and raining almost throughout the morning. Hence, it was tough to get pictures in good light. I had to push my ISO to 800 some times and open up the lens wide to be able to take decent hand-held shots.

As we drove around the place, we saw this Blue Jay perched on one of the bushes. We got close and shot some pictures. The Blue Jay (or Indian Roller) was very co-operative. It was moving from one plant to another, playing hide-and-seek with us even as we kept clicking pictures.

This was one of the few good pictures I made that day. It was drizzling and the streaks of light on the picture are tiny rain drops falling from heaven. The Blue Jay is also visibly drenched.

Trust you like this.

Regards,
Murali Santhanam

Hello Murali,
this bird looks wonderful, even if it's raining.
You did an excellent job capturing details and all the wonderful colors of its plumage.
Very well captured and composed.

Hi Murali,
This bird looks unhappy with being all wet in the rain but you did an excellent job of capturing him in his dilema. The wet plumage detail, disgruntled pose, rain drops, and lovely soft Bg make this a winner. Nicely composed also. Tfs Richard

This is a brilliant shot of Blue Jay before getting soaking wet, Murali. I saw it in that condition in your latest post.
Despite overcast conditions, you have done a grea job of shooting this subject. There is some kind of gentleness to the colours in this picture.
Well done and TFS.
Ram
