[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Pithecellobium dulce.
Common names: Madras Thorn, Manila Tamarind.
Common Hindi name: Jungle Jalebi.
Plant: 8-18m tall. Thorny deciduous tree.
Leaves: Bipinnate. Each pinna has single pair of ovate-oblong leaflets 2-4cm long.
Flower: Greenish-white, fragrant, small white heads 1cm in diameter.
Fruit: 1-1.5cm wide, about 12cm long, pinkish pods, become spiral as they mature.
Native to Central and northern South America. It is introduced and extensively naturalised in the Caribbean, Florida, Guam and Southeast Asia. It is considered an invasive weed in Hawaii.
In folk medicine, a decoction of its bark can cure frequent bowel movement. The leaves can be applied as plasters for pain and veneral sores. Decoctions of leaves are also used for indigestion and abortifacient.
The seed and pulp are made into a sweet drink and eaten roasted or fresh. In India, the seeds are used fresh or in curries.

I imagine it was not easy to find the right settings for this picture. The little white surface could easily be burnt. But you managed the lighting very well. The picture is also very well accompanied by interesting and instructive notes.

This Jungle Jalebi (nice name!)has really a special shape. You took the picture at an interesting moment where some flowers are open and other still shut. Good diagonal presentation troo. Thanks also for the note.
