[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
BLUE PANSY

On the morning of 14th June, it was hot and humid. Still, it did not deter me from my usual search for subjects in the garden.
There is this artificial stream in the garden the bed of which is formed of smooth and round shaped off white stones brought in from the banks of some real river in North India.
There are shallow pools along the bed of the stream and I was thrilled to see them milling with quite a few varieties of dragonflies. Though I was sweating profusely in the humid heat, I still shot quite a few pictures of them.
There is also this one single plant by the edge of the stream with tiny, beautiful pink and purple flowers and I was just dreaming how a butterfly would look perched on those flowers.
In retrospect, it feels like either telepathy or sheer good luck that suddenly a Blue Pansy butterfly landed on a wet round rock just behind that plant.
Thrilled and excited, I started shooting the butterfly -- first on the rocks and then on other locations including those pink and purple flowers.
You have already seen the wet rock in my previous post of this butterfly with a bit of those lovely flowers peeping into the frame. Ivan thought they were lantana and Anne thought they were primulas. However, both were wrong; though I don't know the exact ID of those flowers, they are neither lantana nor primula because I recognize both those species of flowers without making an error.

This image I am posting today was taken when the butterfly rested a few moments on those blue flowers in the garden which you have already seen with my innumerable pictures of Hoverflies I shot in April this year.
Blue on Blue is, therefore, the caption of my picture today.

Another lovely view of the Blue Pansy on 'your' blue flowers. (I can't remember if you've given us the ID! Do they have sticky leaves?) The blue colour on the wings is really striking and the red eyes amazing. Well done!

Perfect title - wonderful picture. The beautiful butterfly could not have chosen a more perfect flower to settle on. Excellent colors, details and composition. You might have answered a question I had in your notes. There are hardly any butterflies here now - is it because we are having ultra-low humidity???

Blue is the most difficult color to record and always requires correct white balance. But the colors are well recorded here. wonderful picture to watch

One of the more beautiful butterflies of the pansy family. It goes well with the blue flowers to slightly offset the insect and create a lovely composition. The lighting and fokus is also good.
