Superior angle up the middle of the image cutting it in half diagonal. Doing it in this way, as one news photographer to another, brings out even more dramatically that feature of the creature (rhymes!) which is the eye catcher for all who know of this and a surprise for parents perhaps teaching kids..I have heard from Kathy Meader , that she knows of teachers who use Trek nature. I was not aware of that...and I even lives close to her...so having said that...you can see how important the picture is and you are never too old to teach or learn as you and I both know...

Parthasarathi,
In Valpoi, Goa, we, my brother & I, swam in the river behind our winter home. I believe that it was part of the Mandovi River; but, I'm not sure.
We saw a lot of them in the river; luckily we were never attacked by them. To-day we can call it "KISMAT". (LUCK).
About 10 years ago I returned to my place of birth. We could not find even one of the species.
You are right.... they are disappearing.
Re: the image.
It is of EXCELLENT quality. Great focusing & clarity.
Mario with warm greetings of frienship from far away Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

hello Partha,
We don't see gharials very often on TN. In fact it is on this site that I discovered its existence. Amazing creature which I hope will survive, having been on earth much longer as humans.
Interesting diagonal portrait.
Best regards

Hi Parthasarathi
Fantastic action shot of this elusive reptile
Good composition
good sharpness
The background is a bit ordinary though. I have done a quick workshop to show you how it might have been improved a bit to make the gharial stand out even more.

Hi Parthasarathi,
A very good image to the unique survival of Gavialidae.
Certainly a very endangered species, I´ve noticed by a TV documental and effort made by naturalist to save them. A pity such situation... I think the world has a terrible illness: "grave Humanitis"

This an amazing action shot Parthasarathi. The upward sweeping curve is really dynamic. Your version is nice and I like Chris's workshop too. It did make the subject "pop" a little off from the background.
