[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all,
I've decided to come back from my self imposed vacation form TN and would like to dedicate this picture to some of my friends who helped me out of the this difficult period ( my mail buddies :-) ).
This is a caterpillar of Atlas moth (Attacus atlas) shot today at my favorite hunting ground "Omkar hills". I have tried experimenting with flash here as i'm noy good at using it :-).

The Atlas moth (Attacus atlas) is a large saturniid moth found in the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia, southern China, common across the Malay archipelago, Thailand to Indonesia. In India, Atlas moths are cultivated for their silk in a non-commercial capacity; unlike that produced by the related Silkworm moth (Bombyx mori), Atlas moth silk is secreted as broken strands. This brown, wool-like silk is thought to have greater durability and is known as fagara. Atlas moth cocoons have been employed as purses in Taiwan.

Hope you ppl will like it and also hope some buddies return

Cheers,
Goutham R

Hi Goutham,

Good come back picture, its well composed, good BG,macro details are fine. Looking forward for more pictures.TFS.

Hallo Goutham
It is good to have you back, and back you came with a bang! Wow this is really a great looking caterpillar with the most beautiful colours and details. I never thought I’ll ever say this about a worm but I cannot help myself. This is a beauty. The colours are striking, complement each other well and are so warm and inviting. The green background and the leaf the caterpillar is on, really highlight this insect to an even greater extent than it is already. Well done! Sharpness, focus and composition is great and your whole presentation gives another meaning to the word “Worm”. I especially like the blue colour on the body. The texture reminds me of marshmallows. I am sure many will disagree with this observation. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
